BICYCLE INITIATIVES

The City of Hallandale Beach is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the community in a fiscally responsible manner by providing superior services that meet the needs of our community as well as plan for their future needs through continued communication. The city is dedicated to provide multimodal transportation options to the residents to allow everyone to quickly and safely enjoy the beautiful venues in our great city. To that end the city offers a free city shuttle, which gets residents to local areas off the county bus path. The city undertook a citywide project several years ago to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety by enlarging and redefining crosswalks at all major intersections. In 2014 the city’s main thoroughfares of A1A, Federal Highway (US1), and Hallandale Beach Boulevard were restriped to include dedicated and marked bicycle lanes. The city also created dedicated bicycle lanes on Northeast 8th Avenue and Northeast 10th Avenue, to provide for safe bicycle traffic north and south through our residential area that connects with the city of Hollywood. In the near future, we will be undertaking a Complete Streets model review citywide to devise a uniform plan to include auto, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, as well as lighting upgrades. As the city continues to grow, bicycle and pedestrian traffic is expected to increase because Hallandale Beach offers residents to opportunity to live, work, and enjoy great entertainment within walking or biking distance. The police department utilizes bicycle patrols to improves pedestrian and bicycle safety through enforcement and education campaigns.
